Just a quick reminder that I will away the next couple weeks; from today (July 29) until Aug 12. I will have some access to email so I'll try to reply as much as I can. Keep your eye out as well for a sweet newborn session that i've got to share at some point!

Mr, Mrs, & Baby PerspectivEye! :)

If you are from the Calgary area, just reading the title of my post might have clued you in to who I am talking about.  I had the amazing oppurtunity to swap sessions with the awesomely (is that a word? lol) talented, very inspiring Gabe McClintock of PerspectivEye. From the very first time I saw Gabe's work I immediately fell in love with it. It was completely different than other wedding photographers work I'd seen. It was unique, artistic, full of emotion, and it was him! So not your every day which is what I also strive for! I was so excited to finally have a good referral to pass along when people asked me if I knew of anyone good who did weddings!! 

So my whole location scouting thing....you guessed it, it was for this session and I definitely think it paid off! Shooting another photographer is so intimidating but also so rewarding! So fun to do a session with someone who completely gets it 100%. It was a gorgeous evening and I had an incredible time.

Location Scouting

I'll admit, knowing tons of locations aren't my thing, at least not yet.  I know the type of locations that "I" want to shoot in, but just don't know where they all are lol.  I'm sure one day I'll be able to list off many of my favorite places but for now, if I want to shoot outdoors in a location that is my style, well I gotta go out looking for it.  So I did just that the other night with Dana Pugh from Short and Sweet Photography (a local Okotoks photog) to find the perfect place for an upcoming session.

While out we came across a perfect photo opp. and Dana was awesome enough to speak up and ask Mr. Chuck if we could take his picture.  Thanks Chuck for saying "I guess if you must" lol, cause I love the way it turned out!!

iPhone 3G...I love you :P

So you guessed it , I was one of the techno geeks out at a crazy hour of the night last night (4:30am to be exact) to get in line in hopes of getting a new iphone! Well it paid off! I was the first in line (with others showing up soon after) and got the white 16 GB iPhone that I wanted. It was the only white one at the location I was at so I'm doin' my little happy dance now hahaha :)

Camping!

Yay, we finally dragged our trailer out of storage and actually camped this year!! (last year we didn't make it out).  I grew up camping literally every single weekend, and then as a teenager went camping with friends all the time...and then got a bit older and started camping with my parents again with my own family.  5 yrs ago we moved to Alberta and it hasn't been the same.  I must admit that the campgrounds close to where I am in pretty much....suck lol.  I grew up in Manitoba and I so miss having camprounds WITH a beach and a lake. Even good ol' Yellowknife had kind of decent places where you could go and still cool off by going for a swim mid-afternoon.  I have yet to find a perfect place here so if anyone knows of somewhere (that doesn't cost a gazillion dollars in fuel to get there!) post a comment cause I'd sure love to know!  And NO, Sylvan Lake does not count!  That is not my idea of a peaceful weekend of camping ;)  

Anyway, the kids loved it and we'll definitely have to head out again this year.  Oh, and in case your wondering, we ended up at Carseland campground, it was nice enough, but still not perfect....oh, and we happened to find the most mosquitos I've ever seen in Alberta since moving here, they were horrendous!!!

A little dirt never hurt anyone, man was she filthy! lol  And check out those nasty mosquito bites on her arm....even after putting on bug spray a thousand times!

Our Diesely Dog (his name is Diesel).  I know, what lovely Canadian chairs we have, this should have been taken for Canada Day, I was only one weekend late hahaha.

This was our own little private clearing right within our campsite....perfect place to play catch!!

Hopefully this inspires all the people that have plans to camp this year to actually get out and do it!  We had a wonderful time and realized how much we miss it!!
